Metro & Royal Academy of Arts launch Eyewitness photo comp
Metro Imaging & Royal Academy of Arts have opened their Eyewitness Photography Competition for entries. It's being run in connection with the Royal Academy's exhibition 'Eyewitness: Hungarian Photography in the 20th Century – Brassaï, Capa, Kertész, Moholy-Nagy, Munkácsi' as well as the launch of Metro’s new online printing service, METROPRINT.
There are 4 separate categories to enter: Street, Portrait, Fashion and Abstract. Each is inspired by individual photographers from the Royal Academy’s exhibition: Brassaï for portraits, Capa for street photography, Moholy-Nagy for abstract photography, and Pécsi and Munkácsi for fashion photography.
The competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers, and will be judged by industry professionals and journalists. The overall winner will see their image published in The Independent on Sunday’s New Review Magazine as well as receiving a range of other prizes.
Entries are open until 26th August via www.royalacademy.org.uk/eyewitnesscomp.
The Eyewitness exhibition is on now at the Sackler Wing of Galleries, Royal Academy of Arts, Piccadilly, London W1J 0BD until 2nd October 2011. The exhibition showcases over 200 photographs from 1914-1989, revealing how the Brassaï, Capa, Kertész, Moholy-Nagy and Munkácsi were at the forefront of stylistic development.
